VNTY LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Politik mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.

By using Politik, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. This is used solely for account management, sign-in, and essential communications about your account.

Location Information

Politik uses your location to determine your congressional district and display your elected representatives. We collect:

• Zip code:entered manually by you during onboarding or in your profile settings.
• Approximate device location:only when you explicitly grant location permission. Used solely to auto-detect your zip code.

Your zip code is stored on our servers to provide personalized representative information. We do not track your precise real-time location, and location data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

Optional Profile Information

During onboarding, you may optionally provide your political affiliation and policy interests. These are used solely to personalize your experience within the App. You can change or remove this information at any time in your profile settings.

Usage Analytics

We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to understand how users interact with the App. This includes:

• Screens viewed and features used
• App performance metrics (load times, errors)
• Device type and operating system version

Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve the App and is not used to build individual advertising profiles.

AI Chat Conversations

When you use Politik AI, your questions and the responses are processed to provide civic education answers. We may retain conversation data to improve the quality of responses. Conversations are associated with your account but are not shared with third parties.

Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token provided by Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to deliver notifications about government activity relevant to your district. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or the App.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App
• Display your elected representatives based on your congressional district
• Personalize your experience based on your stated interests
• Send push notifications about relevant government activity
• Respond to your inquiries via the AI assistant
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
• Ensure the security and integrity of the App

Data Sources

Government data displayed in Politik is sourced from official, publicly available APIs including:

• Congress.gov API
• Google Civic Information API
• OpenStates API
• Federal Election Commission (FEC) API

We aggregate and display this public data. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers:We use third-party services (Clerk for authentication, PostHog for analytics, MongoDB for data storage) that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information.
• Legal requirements:We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
• Business transfers:In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes).

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), secure authentication through Clerk, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Request data portability

Children's Privacy

Politik is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
